Orton: Our Rooms
An intimate and friendly nursery, our Orton setting is dedicated to helping each of our children develop at their own pace, building on their individual strengths and weaknesses to help them grow. Split into three age groups, our babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers are based in separate rooms, dedicated to their needs and wants. Each child and their family is supported by a key person, working in partnership to follow their child's development and set developmental "Next Steps" to help in their progress.
Our nursery is split into three groups:
- The Ducklings: 0 - 24 months
- The Owlets: 24 - 36 months
- The Wise Owls: 36+ months
THE DUCKLINGS
Devoted to our youngest children, we work to help maintain continuity between nursery and home during the transition to Orton - working alongside parents to ensure that each child's routine is not disrupted. With staff permanently based in the baby room, our team provides continuity for babies - helping them to develop during their first important months in life with a full knowledge of their needs and wants. Based downstairs, our baby area has space for creative messy play and interaction with soft toys and games, whilst our dedicated sleeping area provides a separate place for babies to relax and sleep.
THE OWLETS
Every day is an adventure in our bright and cheerful toddler room, as our two to three year-olds explore new and interesting things through messy play, creative games and group activities. As they begin to develop more independence and an awareness of others, they are encouraged to make choices about what they would like to do and how they would like to spend their time. With easy access to our outdoor area, the toddlers make full use of the activities and games outside to learn more about their world while enjoying themselves.

THE WISE OWLS
Preparing them for the transition to "big school", our children are encouraged to develop their skills and take an interest in exploring the world around them so that they are excited about the learning journey ahead of them. As their individuality increases, they have a greater say about what they do and how they learn - always choosing how and when they take part in activities which interest them. The pre-schoolers are encouraged to show a sense of pride in their achievements and benefit from the support of their peers and encouragement of our team in everything they do.
