Preschoolers

Preparing our children for the leap to "big school", our fun and exciting pre-school is dedicated to our children aged from three years and above. The stimulating setting gives each child the opportunity to explore new and exciting things and to build on and develop their existing knowledge and skills. Working with each child as an individual, our caring team helps to prepare them for the next steps in their learning journey as they continue to school.

We work in partnership with local schools to ensure that the transition to school is as smooth as possible, therefore limiting any anxiety that this can cause for our children.

Our focus is to encourage each child's independence, whilst raising their self-esteem and confidence by giving them the freedom to make their own decisions and choose how they want to use their time at periods throughout the day. Helping to build their self confidence, we recognise and value each child as individuals - understanding that all our children have different levels of confidence when working both alone and in groups and then taking this into account when assisting their development.

Following the six learning areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, each child's key person sets developmental "Next Steps" to build on the knowledge and skills that they have gained since birth. We work in partnership both with each child's parents and their local primary school, using the information to help the transition to school - giving teachers an insight into each child's development as they enter their reception year.

As part of the EYFS, we work to develop each child's social skills - helping them as they learn about friendships and begin to understand and respect boundaries. The fun, social and educational nature of pre-school means that all our children make good friends with each other and form constructive relationships with our team. Stimulated to stretch their imagination and skills, we strive to support our pre-schoolers, to help them feel successful and special as they are supported by our staff to develop their skills as they continue their learning journey.

GRANTS
For the term after their third birthday, children living in the Peterborough City Council area are eligible for Nursery Education Grant funding for 15 hours a week for 38 weeks per year.
