Babies

Caring for babies in a calm, stimulating and homely environment, our youngest children are supported through their first few months of life by our committed and devoted team. Every child is important and accordingly we treat each child as an individual to meet their unique needs and help them develop in a way which is best for them.

Continuity between nursery and home is essential for young babies to ensure a smooth start for development in their early years. Our team creates a partnership with parents to ensure an easy and supported transition between life at home and nursery, with the use of care plans to help staff continue a baby's home regime and avoid disrupting their routine.

Each child's key person works alongside parents on settling in visits to ensure their baby settles calmly into their new environment whilst learning about their feeding, sleeping and playing patterns at home. By continuing this routine, our babies are comforted at nursery and avoid any confusion and disruption to their development in the new environment. Our babies enjoy getting to know and play with their key person and they, in turn, get to know each baby's personalities, needs and wants to provide for the baby to the best of their ability, in line with their parents wishes.

We work alongside the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS) to focus on each child's development individually in six areas, including communication, language and literacy, creative development, problem solving, reasoning and numeracy, personal, social and emotional and physical development and knowledge and understanding of their world. Each child is set developmental 'Next Steps' every six to eight weeks in each of these areas to help build on these skills and promote their progress. This is achieved solely by learning through play, with the use of toys, kept at the babies' level, to help develop their skills in a fun, exciting and stimulating way. Sensory based play is important for children at this age and our babies play with sand and water, explore treasure baskets, heuristic items and the world outside and enjoy messy play and visual stimulation to promote their skills and satisfy their inquisitive minds.

SLEEPING AREA
In calm and peaceful sleeping areas our babies get the important uninterrupted sleep they need, away from any distractions and unwanted noises. Cots and sleeping mats are provided for each child and our staff work fully with parents to accommodate any special needs or requests - creating the perfect environment for our babies to rest.

FEEDING AND MEALTIMES
We see meal times as an important social experience, helping the babies to get used to feeding whilst developing their social and fine motor skills. All our babies eat together at a small, lowered table with either baby-sized chairs or lowered high-chairs giving them the opportunity to interact with other babies and our staff. The babies meals are prepared to meet each of their developmental needs. All our food is prepared with care by our cook on-site with the fresh and healthy ingredients providing a nutritionally balanced meal for our children.
